Our clients (a successful, well established family owned farming business) wanted to demolish an existing unused brick farm building and construct a larger farm worker’s cottage, with attached staff facilities.
Our scheme provided a 3 bedroomed single storey dwelling, with attached meeting rooms, kitchen and washing facilities for staff.
During negotiations with the Planners, we were required to prepare and submit a detailed Supplementary Planning Report detailing the business background of the farm, the intricacies of the stock management and other use of land, labour statistics, disease control, security etc, to justify the need for a stock worker to live on site, in adherence with Policy HS9 Rural Worker’s Dwelling.
We successfully negotiated with the Planners to increase vs the old building size by an incremental 23%.
